Template — not legal advice. This is a starting draft and must be reviewed by a qualified lawyer (and checked against GDPR) before launch.

1. Who we are

1calculator (“we”) operates this Service. For data-protection questions, contact [email protected].

2. What we collect

Account data (name, username, email, password hash, optional bio and regional preferences); content you create (calculators, comments, votes, favorites, collections); and limited technical data needed to run the Service (e.g. a session cookie, and a hashed token / hashed IP used only to prevent duplicate anonymous votes).

3. Cookies & analytics

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to operate features like one-vote-per-browser. We also use analytics — Google Analytics and PostHog (EU-hosted) — to understand how the Service is used; these set cookies or similar identifiers. Analytics identities are pseudonymous: we do not send your name or email to analytics providers, and we do not use advertising cookies.

4. How & why we use data (legal bases)

To provide the Service and your account (contract); to keep it secure, prevent abuse, and understand usage (legitimate interests); and to comply with the law. Public calculators, profiles and community activity are shown publicly because that is the purpose of the platform.

5. Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers that host and run the platform on our behalf (hosting, search, email delivery, error tracking, analytics), or where required by law.

6. Retention

We keep account data while your account is active. When you delete your account we remove or anonymise your personal data, except where we must keep it for legal reasons.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR), you may access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to certain processing. You can export your data and delete your account from your account settings, or contact us.

8. International transfers

Where data is processed outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by law.

9. Changes & contact

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date reflects changes. Questions: [email protected].
